Parkhurst
This entry is for May 15th 1879 and is titled
Mr J Parkhurst, although it is unclear whether he is the next of
kin of a deceased person or the deceased person himself. Other ledgers
we have use different formats so it also possible that he might
be the person writing this information, or a supplier. The text
of the entry, as written, is as follows:

Perhaps this Mr Parkhurst was also the customer
who requested the ‘Making wheelbarrow with top and painting’
in the entry below, dated August 2 1885? In any case, this helps
to put the cost of the funeral arrangements into perspective: the
painted wheelbarrow (and top) costing £1.16s: only 4d away
from being a quarter of the funeral charge of £8.
