We’re excited to finally be able to announce that 2019 will feature a new project for us: having expressed an interest during the early stages, Freeman Brothers were “matched” with an event partner and will be sponsoring a district-wide comedy competition next year.

The Sussex Comedian of the Year, organised by comedy experts Barnstormers and talent agency Andromeda Talent, will be making its debut thanks to a grant from the Horsham District Year of Culture 2019 fund and sponsorship from district-based business, Freeman Brothers.

Further details will be announced in due course, but the competition format will involve several events throughout 2019.

Becky Hughes, Freeman Brothers’ Community Co-Ordinator, whose role involves identifying community partnership opportunities such as this, could see the potential in sponsoring the competition. She said: “This is a unique and exciting opportunity for Freeman Brothers, and something we’ve never done before, proving that there are new experiences to be had even when your business has been running for over 160 years! It’s great to support an event which will have a reach throughout the district, and we hope that this will be the beginning of a successful future for the competition.”
